This contract is made this 30th day of November, 20003, between the Press-Telegram, a division of Garden State Newspapers Inc., a corporation, hereinafter known as the Employer, and the Southern California Media Guild, a Local (#39069) chartered by The Newspaper Guild - Communications Workers of America (AFL-CIO, CLC) hereinafter known as the Guild, for itself and on behalf of all employees of the Employer described in
Article I.
ARTICLE V - Information
1. The Employer shall supply the Guild on request with a list containing the following information for each employee:
(a) Name, address, phone number, sex, minority group, date of birth.
(b) Date of hiring.
(c) Job classification and title.
Experience rating and experience anniversary date, if applicable.
Wage rate and other compensation plans or programs, if applicable.
2. The Employer shall notify the Guild monthly in writing by copy of Personnel Action forms of:
(a) Merit increases granted by name of the employee, individual amount, resulting new salary, and effective date.
(b) Step-up increases paid by name of the employee, individual amount, resulting new salary, and effective date.
(c) Changes in classification, salary changes by reason thereof, and effective date.
(d) Resignations, retirements, deaths and other revisions in the data listed in Section 1, and effective dates.
(e) New hire information to include information included in Section 1 above and provided on Personnel Action form.
3. The employer shall be informed of and can request a copy of any document that criticizes or commends, e.g. letters of warning, disciplinary notices, performance evaluations, notices of awards, etc. An employee may place into his or her personnel file a response to any document contained therein.
4. Upon request and in the presence and agreement of the employee, the Guild may examine the personnel file of the employee at a mutually agreeable time. If copies are requested, the employer may impose a reasonable charge for copying where there are multiple or burdensome requests.
Non-employee representative access.
The Guild’s representative shall meet with employees only at times and places where such meetings will not interfere with the operation of the paper, provided the Guild representative checks in with building security and complies with company rules regarding access to employees.
